Mwaiwathu Private Hospital invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Nurse Midwife Technician tenable at the Hospital along Chileka Road in Blantyre.

Position Context

Reporting to the Nursing and Midwifery Unit Manager, the Nurse Midwife Technician will assist the Hospital Nursing and Midwifery team in their daily tasks. S/he will be directly involved in rendering care to patients.

Specific duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• To provide high quality and Comprehensive Nursing and Midwifery care to patients;
• To carry out doctors’ orders timely, correctly and responsibly;
• To take responsibility for direct and indirect Nursing and Midwifery care of patients.
• To comply with infection, prevention and control standards at all times; To conduct admission and discharge of patients;
• To participate in Quality Improvement Initiatives of the hospital;
• To participates in binning and billing of the services offered;
• To administer medications to patients correctly;

Educational Qualifications and Experience

• Must have a College Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery from a recognized Institution
• Must be currently registered with the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi.
• Must have a good MSCE certificate including English and Mathematics.
• Must be computer literate and have at least three years relevant post qualification experience in a busy hospital environment
• Must be willing to work odd hours.

Requisite skills, abilities and attributes:

• Good command of English and fluency in other Malawian local languages
• Must be a self-starter, pro-active and honest.
• Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision
