Leadership Team
Board of Directors
Mwaiwathu Private Hospital’s unitary board is led by a Non-Executive Chairman, Mr. Gibson Ngalamila, and an Executive Director, Prof. Jack Wirima, with an additional five Non-Executive Directors. This diverse group brings a balanced mix of technical, entrepreneurial, and business skills, ensuring objective and strategic guidance over the Hospital’s operations. The board convenes at least three times per year, supported by strong communication and monitoring systems that enable informed decision-making and adherence to legal and ethical standards.
Human Resources and Administration Committee (HRAC)
Led by Dr U Katunga, this committee handles key management appointments, remuneration policies, and human resources strategies. It meets twice a year and includes members dedicated to fostering a positive, well-managed workplace.
Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee (FARC)
Chaired by Mr. E Malion, this committee oversees financial reporting, risk management, asset management, and audit functions. It consists of four Non-Executive Directors and meets quarterly to identify and address areas of risk, making recommendations to the board as needed.
Executive Management Committee
The Executive Committee (EXCO), led by Prof. J.J Wirima Chief Executive Officer, comprises senior leadership members including the Chief Finance Officer and Company Secretary Mr Patrick Phalira Chalu, Chief Clinical Officer and Executive Assistant Mrs Mercy Zingani. The EXCO is focused on operational strategy to ensure consistent and high-quality service to clients.

Mr. Gibson Ngalamila
Role: Non-Executive Chairman

Prof. Jack Wirima
Role: Chief Executive Officer
Prof. Jack Wirima leads Mwaiwathu Private Hospital with a vision for excellence in healthcare. His vast expertise in medicine and management ensures that the hospital consistently delivers state-of-the-art medical care.
Mr. Patrick Phalira Chalu
Role: Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary
Mr. Chalu oversees financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, ensuring the hospital’s financial health and sustainability.
Chief Clinical Officer
Role: Clinical Operations Leader
The Chief Clinical Officer is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of clinical care, overseeing patient services and medical staff.
Mrs. Mercy Zingani
Role: Executive Assistant
Mrs. Mercy Zingani supports the executive leadership team by managing schedules, communications, and administrative operations.
