ADMISSION AND DISCHARGE INFORMATION
The hospital has three main types of customers:-
- Company
- Medical Aid
- Cash (Visa acceptable)
- International Insurance Companies may have their clients attend to with prior arrangement
- Bank direct payments acceptable (details of our bank account number available on request)
Our cheerful reception staff will welcome and assist you with whatever information you may need regarding our services. Please be assured that all your information regarding diagnosis and surgical procedures will be regarded as confidential. The hospital does not allow guardians in the wards except in exceptional cases where the attending doctor authorizes. Personal beddings are not allowed. Incase of guardians who have no where to stay in Blantyre, please check with our main reception for directions to close by lodges.
DISCHARGE
After the doctor has discharged a patient, it takes about 45 minutes to prepare your final bill. We ask that patients remain in the ward during the time that the bill is being prepared until they are informed that it is ready.
VISITING HOURS
Mwaiwathu hospital appreciates the need for our patients to have visitors.
Visiting hours are as follows:-
Morning : 6:30 hrs to 7:30 hrs
Afternoon : 12:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs
Evening : 17.30 hrs to 19.:30 hrs
Four visitors per patient in the General ward and maternity ward are allowed per time. In the ICU two visitors per patient is the rule. In the maternity ward one’s own children are allowed to visit the mother and the new born baby.
