Dr. L Gadama – Visiting Specialist

Prof. Louis Aaron Gadama is a highly experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with extensive clinical expertise in maternal and neonatal health. He holds specialist qualifications including FCOG(SA), MMED(UCT), DTM&H(Glasgow), and MBBS(MW). With a deep commitment to improving women's health, Prof. Gadama has contributed significantly to advancing the field of obstetrics and gynaecology in Malawi. His research focuses on maternal health, including integrating maternal near-miss cases into the maternal death surveillance system and real-time data collection on severe maternal outcomes, such as those related to COVID-19. Prof. Gadama is also known for his work in innovations in maternal sepsis management and quality of care in antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum settings. As the Scientific Lead for the Association of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Malawi, he plays a key role in shaping healthcare standards in the country. He is also a Distinguished Life Member of the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons, recognized for his expertise and contributions to laparoscopic surgery in obstetrics and gynaecology. Prof. Gadama’s work has been instrumental in advancing maternal health care, making him one of the leading figures in his field in Malawi.
